Many of you may have begun your fishing season already, some of you have not. Start the season of with piece of mind. If you have not done so already; Remove your prop and check for any fishing line that may have been picked up last season or perhaps even early this year. This simple check can prevent a very costly repair and, more importantly loss of fishing time!

Looking inside the prop of your outboard or sterndrive is no guarantee that you'll discover this potentially serious issue, so remove it and look behind the thrust washer where the seals are located to be sure...
If you do discover line, remove it and check your gear lube for "milkiness" by loosening the lower drain screw and allowing a small amount of lube to come out. If it's clean re-tighten it, if it is milky call your dealer or preferred service facility for repairs...it'll be cheaper to fix it now that wait, trust me!

Have a great season!
Tim
PS: It's a good idea to check this periodically throughout the season, there's a lot of fishing line floating around in the lake!
