Team Zaborski and Team Zart/Jesionowski
stay hot in the LEWT
The Western Basin Sportfishing
Association (WBSA) held the final event of the 2005 Triton
Boats/Evinrude E-TEC Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) in Lorain
OH, Saturday, July 23rd. The day started off with 22
teams registering and launching from Spitzer Lakeside Marina.
Anglers were greeted with coffee and donuts provided by West
Marine and Boat US.
Gary Zart and Wayne Jesionowski of Hinckley finished on top of
the championship division. They weighed in 5 fish for a total
weight of 27.45 lbs. The team fished on the west side of the
sand bar and pulled harness'. “We went through at least 30
keeper walleye to get our top 5. We were throwing back 3 to 4
lb fish” commented Zart. Finishing second was the team of Ted
Pawlak and Nate McConoughey both of Twinsburg with a weight of
22.1 lbs. They also won the big fish award in the division with
a fish weighing 8.85 lbs. Derik Warnke of Aurora and Kevin
Vernon of Westerville finished third with a weight of 19.3 lbs.
In the points race the team of Zart and Jesionowski used their
1st place finish to secure the Team of the Year title. They
received a check for $1000 and trophies. First runner up, worth
$600, was the team of Jeff Lash of North Lawrence and Tim Joseph
of Utica. Winning two custom made spinning rods from the
Buckeye Rodmaker was the team of Keith Condon and Jeff Pawlaczyk
both from Metamora for their third place
finish.
The father,
son and son team of Stan Zaborski of Sheffield Lake, Mike
Zaborski of Sheffield Lake and Ed Zaborski of Wakeman made it
three wins in a row by taking the top spot in the open division
with a weight of 16.8 lbs. The trio also took big fish honors
for the division with a 4.85 lb fish. Their winning program
consisted of pulling spoons behind dipseys.
This is the final event for the 2005 LEWT. The
next event for the WBSA will be the 2005 Huron Hawgfest held in
conjunction with ohiogamefishing.com. For more information
